Caring for Your Slayer Rack
Your Slayer Rack is built to last, but a little routine care will keep it looking and performing its best for years to come.
Standard Racks (Furniture-Grade Lumber)
- Dust regularly — Wipe down with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth to remove dust and debris
- Clean gently — Use a mild soap-and-water solution for deeper cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners that can damage the stain
- Avoid prolonged moisture — Standard racks are designed for indoor or covered use. Wipe up any spills or moisture promptly to protect the wood finish
- Keep out of direct sunlight — Extended UV exposure can fade the stain over time. Position your rack away from direct sun when possible
- Rod holders — Your 316 stainless steel holders are corrosion-resistant, but wiping them down after contact with saltwater will keep them looking pristine
Washdown & Truck Racks (Marine-Grade Starboard)
- Hose it down — These racks are built to get wet. After a day on the water, simply hose off your rack along with your gear
- Soap when needed — For tougher grime, salt buildup, or fish residue, use a mild boat soap and a soft brush
- Waterproof HDPE — Starboard is a waterproof HDPE that's built for the elements and won't delaminate. Storing under cover when not in use will extend its life even further
- Stainless hardware — All hardware is stainless steel and corrosion-resistant. A quick freshwater rinse after saltwater exposure is all it needs
